Foday Kallay (born 1975 or 1976) was the leader of an armed group, the West Side Boys, in war-torn Sierra Leone. Foday Kallay was formerly a corporal in the Sierra Leone Army.

Hostage

During the capture of the eleven British soldiers in 2000, the then 24-year-old Foday Kallay made several demands. Amongst his demands was for safe passage out of Sierra Leone and an education abroad. He confided in his family that he was afraid that should the hostages be released, his group would be open to attacks.

Capture

During an interview, he claimed that the hostages were about to be released when the British raid took place. He was later captured and tried in Sierra Leone.[1]

He is currently serving a 50-year prison sentence in Sierra Leone after he surrendered during the assault.
